22 killed in road accident in U.P.

Badaun (Uttar Pradesh): At least twenty-two people, including four women and two children, were killed and over a dozen injured when the bus in which they were travelling collided with a truck on the Gunnaur-Danari road near here this morning. The mishap occurred when the U.P. bus was on its way to Agra from Moradabad, police said. The injured, many of them serious, were admitted to hospitals.

Senior officials have reached the spot, they said. Chief Minister Mayawati expressed her grief over the incident and announced a compensation of Rs. 1 lakh each to the kin of those killed and Rs. 50,000 for the critically injured. — PTI
