LUCKNOW: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati on Wednesday brought in Satish Chandra Mishra, the Brahmin face of the Bahujan Samaj Party, into her Cabinet in a special swearing in ceremony, even as a Minister resigned to contest for the Speaker's post. Mr. Mishra was administered the oath of office and secrecy at a brief ceremony at the Raj Bhavan by Governor T.V. Rajeswar. An eminent lawyer and Rajya Sabha member, he is credited with efforts to mobilise Brahmin support for the BSP chief. A close confidant of the Chief Minister, Mr. Mishra is likely to be given an "important portfolio." Mr. Mishra was the Advocate-General of Uttar Pradesh during an earlier tenure of Mr. Mayawati. Earlier, Sukhdev Rajbhar, who was sworn in Minister on Sunday, resigned after he was chosen the party candidate for the Speaker's post. PTI
