Police ticked off over non-registration of FIR

NEW DELHI: A city court on Wednesday came down heavily on the Delhi police for not registering an FIR in connection with a kidnapping case in the Capital and asked what rules and regulations they were following while lodging a complaint.

Metropolitan Magistrate (MM) Pulastya Parmachal issued notices to the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central Delhi) asking them to appear in person and to file a status report on May 31.

The court also issued notice to the Station House Officer of Indraprastha Estate police station in Central Delhi and asked him to appear in person and reply to the matter.

The complainant, Pateshwar Prasad Chaturvedi of Gonda in Uttar Pradesh, had alleged that on March 10 this year some anti-social elements had kidnapped him from ITO Crossing in Delhi and after six hours of mental torture thrown him near Indraprastha Estate police station. - PTI
