The Capital's culture-lovers can now soak in the different colours of Brazil at a nine-day festival that opens at India Habitat Centre on June 4. "Brazilian Watercolours" will showcase the best of art and culture and offer exotic cuisine from the South American country.
The theme of the festival originates from a Brazilian song composed by Ary Birroso in
Like watercolours that merge easily with each other to form visual patterns on a wide array of materials, this festival is intended to act as a platform where different colours of Brazilian culture -- food, art and music -- can merge with diverse colours of the rich Indian heritage.
The artwork that will be showcased at the exhibition promises to be an eye-catching experience for visitors. An art exhibition by Regina Silveira will be held at Visual Art Gallery, while that of Arthur Luiz Piza will be mounted at Palm Court Gallery of IHC.
Silveira's growing interest in architecture is clearly visible in traditional representation of visual architectural spaces, while Piza's art can be best described as one that infiltrates itself into the universe of geometry and mathematics to find out how to challenge the game of art.
The festival is part of the "Cultural Weeks" project that signifies partnership between the two countries.
The project has been planned on the basis of the outstanding project "Year of Brazil in France " which was organised in 2005. The India-Brazil project will be aiming the same objectives though on a smaller scale. -- Madhur Tankha
