BHUBANESWAR: Oirssa will create a separate cadre of government employees having proficiency in computer applications, Home Secretary Tarun Kanti Mishra said here on Thursday. After meeting with the employees' unions here, Mr. Mishra said the cadre of executive assistants would help the State Government carry out e-governance programmes. "Henceforward, the computers will replace files in the secretariat while more powers will be delegated to employees," he said. The meeting was chaired by Chief Secretary Ajit Kumar Tripathy. Besides, the State Government would be amending Orissa Secretariat Service Cadre Rule to bring more relaxations for faster promotions for secretariat employees, Mr. Mishra said. Secretariat employees had been blaming existing rule which was causing obstructions in their career advancements. The Home Secretary, however, made it clear that all these plans were in proposal stage and it would come in force only after the State Cabinet take a final decision.
