Indian teams have a field day

KARACHI: Indian teams played three matches in the open, two in the ladies and two in the seniors on Wednesday in the BFAME bridge championship. The maximum Victory Points that were available in these seven matches were 175 and the Indians collected a whopping 168.

In the open event, Indian defeated Sri Lanka 23-7, Jordan 25-5 and Sri Lanka 25-2. The total so far is 190, which is a good 37 VPs ahead of the second-placed Pakistan, which has 157.

The ladies collected 49 out of 50 points on offer to total 146 with Jordan on 126. he seniors came into their own on Wednesday collecting 46 out of 50 Victory Points and are leading the pack with 139 VPs. Sri Lanka is in the second position with 104 victory points.

Jose Damiani, President, World Bridge Federation, will be partnered by the legendary Pakistani player, now eligible to play for the USA and in fact, representing that country in the World championships later this year, Zia Mahmood. India's Rajesh Dalal, partnered by Sunit Choksi, will play in the same team.
