HASSAN: As many as 23 domestic gas cylinders loaded in two goods carriages were seized from K.R. Puram extension by Food & Civil Supplies Department Deputy Director Hombali Gowda on Thursday. A case will be registered against the company in the Deputy Commissioner's court. Two workers of the gas company concerned have been taken to custody. Mr. Hombali Gowda told The Hindu that domestic cylinders were being supplied to commercial establishments. They were being sold at Rs 650 each. As a result, domestic consumers were getting cylinders only 5-6 days after they make a booking. Mr. Hombali Gowda said raids were being conducted across the district. People can contact him on mobile no: 9980757864 in case they notice any illegal sale. Mr. Gowda said the department had raided commercial establishments in Shravanabelagola on Wednesday. Four cases were detected and eight domestic gas cylinders seized. Using domestic gas cylinders for commercial purposes is an offence under clause (3) of the Essential Commodities Act 1955, he added.
