VIJAYAWADA: Mayor Mallika Begum and Municipal Commissioner Natarajan Gulzar on Thursday presented the `Best Performers Awards-2007' to three high performing employees in each of the 10 different categories. The awards were given in the categories of revenue inspectors, sanitary inspectors, assistant engineers, work inspectors, town planning building overseers, social workers, bill collectors, senior assistants, junior assistants and typists, stenos & data entry operators.
Cash prize
The three top performers in the category of revenue inspectors were given a cash prize of Rs.25,000, Rs.15,000 and Rs.10,000, respectively, while the three top performers in the remaining categories were given a cash prize of Rs.10,000, Rs.7,500 and Rs.5,000, respectively. The high performing employees were selected on the basis of voting conducted among employees on May 1, which was given a weightage of 70 per cent, while the remaining 30 per cent weightage was given to the remarks of the head of the department. Ms. Begum said it was a matter of pride that the system of recognising the best employees in any municipal corporation in the country, and certainly in the State, was initiated in Vijayawada. Mr. Gulzar said the system was introduced only to encourage every one to work hard and contribute their mite to the city's development.
