Mayor Pulusu Janardhana Rao
VISAKHAPATNAM: Visakhapatnam Mayor Pulusu Janardhana Rao will discuss with the railway board officials on Friday at New Delhi on implementing the Rs.453-crore modern Bus Rapid Transport System (BRTS) in the city. The meeting is a sequel to the efforts taken by Union Minister of State for Mines T. Subbarami Reddy who brought a Central team to the city on May 7 for on the spot assessment of the requirements of BRTS. Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Commissioner (GVMC) Mukesh Kumar Meena and Chief Engineer P. Panduranga Rao too would attend the meeting. The Minister, in a press release, said he was confident of getting sanction for BRTS in the meeting as the transport system which is aimed at making Vizag a model city, connects the Central business area with Simhachalam and Pendurthy. Dr. Reddy also had a meeting with Railway Board Chairman J.P. Batra on various developmental activities proposed for the Waltair railway division and Visakhapatnam city. In another press release, the Minister said the Chairman positively responded to look into the issues like construction of fly over and new platforms, development of second entry to the station, giving a facelift to the city railway station and capacity augmentation of Vizag port railway. Mr. Batra agreed to visit Vizag soon to look into railway developmental activities in the city, the release added.
