The State Crime Branch Criminal Investigation Department (CB CID) is awaiting the Government's reply to its letter on interim attachment of properties of Yobu Saravanan and Anantharaj, against whom cases of cheating have been registered.
On receipt of Government permission, the police will move the court for attaching the properties. Both have been detained under the Goondas Act, a CB CID officer said. As regards Saravanan, the special unit had identified and seized documents pertaining to 175 acres near Gangaikondan in Tirunelveli district, 35 cents on East Coast Road in Cuddalore district and vacant land measuring 4400 sq. feet in Vellore. Eleven cars and Rs.19.33 lakh were also seized.
Anantharaj allegedly cheated poor persons by promising to build houses for them. The CB CID had identified property at Kovalam, a city suburb, Perur, a vacant ground at Madhavaram, six acres of agricultural land and a house at Odiathur in Villupuram district and 30 cents of agricultural land in Tiruvannamalai district.
