Major spirit haul at Aluva

KOCHI: The Aluva police raided and took into custody 4,000 litres of illicit liquor from a residence near Kottapuram on Wednesday night.

Babukumar, Circle Inspector, Aluva, said following a tip-off, the police party reached the spot in a private vehicle but could not arrest anyone as they ran away.

The police found that liquor was kept in 112 cans of 35-litre capacity each inside a truck, along with other materials like children's items, readymade garments and medicines. The police are verifying the ownership details of the vehicles taken into custody.The confiscated materials were produced before the Aluva Judicial First Class Magistrate-II on Thursday.
