Thiruvananthapuram: The State police have tracked the allegedly threatening e-mail received by Education Minister M.A. Baby on Wednesday to a 60-year-old woman in Belgaum. The alleged e-mail sender was identified as Madhavi Ghate. Inspector General of Police, South Zone, Arun Kumar Sinha said the e-mail was not a threatening one. He said it was more in the tone of a protest against the State Government's decision to honour noted painter M.F. Hussain. The IG had contacted Dorai Swamy Naik, his counterpart in Belgaum, for tracing the e-mail sender. The Superintendent of Police, Belgaum, Hemant Nigalkar, questioned Ms. Madhavi. The Belgaum police found her to be a `harmless' woman, Mr. Sinha said. The police have decided not to register any case in connection with the incident. The State police have found that the anonymous caller who threatened to assassinate the Chief Minister last week had used a mobile phone with a prepaid card bought in the name of a Saudi Arabia-based company. The police have sought the help of the Saudi Arabian police and the Malayalee Association to trace the caller. The mobile phone number has been published in most English language dailies in the Gulf region. Malayalam television channels have aired the number continuously in their Gulf news sections. The police said they were very close to identifying the caller.
