All set for the midnight marathon

Special Correspondent

BANGALORE: It's time for the midnight marathon despite the Athletics Federation of India (AFI) refusing to recognise it.

Having organised two marathons in the past two years, Crossover hit upon the idea of a midnight run for both its entertainment value and in a bid to make history.

Crossover has managed to rope in 22 foreign entries for the main event.

While the main marathon will be flagged off at 12 midnight, the half marathon, which has attracted nearly 1,000 runners, will commence 30 minutes later.

The Cispa Corporate relay with nearly 22 teams in the fray, will begin at 6.30 p.m on Saturday. The event will have eight runners from each team vying for honours.

Meanwhile, the IT City run that will be flagged off by Minister for Medium and Major Industries Katta Subramananya Naidu, is expected to attract 5,000 runners. The race will be flagged off at 6:30 p.m.

Bangalore's glitterati including the likes of Harish Bijoor, Prasad Bidappa, Reeth Abraham, Ashwini Nachappa, Pankaj Advani, Shika Tandon, Malathi Holla, Meena Ganesh, Rangu Salgame, Ajay Kela and many more are expected to attend the event and some will also participate in the races.
