Meet on domestic violence held

VIJAYAWADA: Andhra Pradesh Mahila Commission chairperson M. Mary Ravindranadh on Friday said anganwadi workers must play an active role in effective implementation of the Domestic Violence Act.

Addressing an awareness meet attended by the staff and officials of the Women and Child Welfare Department, representatives of local NGOs and anganwadi workers, she said dowry harassment was the root cause of most problems for women.

She said the Domestic Violence Act was aimed at protecting the rights of women in every aspect.
