: First-time MP from Tamil Nadu, V. Radhika Selvi of the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam, was inducted into the Union Council of Ministers on Friday. She was administered the oath of office and secrecy by President Abdul Kalam at a brief ceremony in Rashtrapati Bhavan.
Ms. Selvi was made the Minister of State in the Home Ministry, a Rashtrapati Bhavan communiqué said. Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and members of his Cabinet attended the ceremony.
Ms. Selvi, who represents Tiruchendur Lok Sabha constituency, joined the Union Council of Ministers following the resignation of Dayanidhi Maran as Information and Communications Minister earlier this week.
