HASSAN: Deputy Director Pre-University Education P.K. Bhavani said here on Saturday that a proposal had been forwarded to the Government to open 20 new pre-university colleges. There are 120 pre-university colleges in the district 64 government, 21 grant-in-aid and 35 non-grant colleges. Ms. Bhavani told The Hindu that the new colleges would come up in Dasara Koppalu, Municipal High School and in Vijayanagar Extension (in Hassan town), Salagame, Kattaya and Ankapura (in Hassan taluk), Palya (Alur taluk), Adaguru (Belur), Ballupete (Sakleshpur), Kallusagarahalli Halli and J.C. Pura (Arsikere taluk), Sathenahalli, Didaga and Kunduru Math (Chennaraypatna taluk), Keragodu in Holenarsipur Taluk and Siddapura Gate in Arkalgud taluk. She said another proposal had been sent to start pre-university college for girls in Alur, Belur, Sakleshpur and Arkalgud. Ms. Bhavani said action would be taken against private collages if they collected excess fees or/and donation.
