BELGAUM: The district administration has sanctioned 1,392 houses to Devadasis and physically challenged persons in the district following an instruction from the State Government recently. It may be recalled that Devadasis and association representing physically challenged persons living in different parts of the district had been demanding facilities such as housing. According to an official release quoting Deputy Commissioner M.E. Shivalingmurthy here on Thursday, homeless Devadasis and physically challenged persons have been asked to contact the Deputy Commissioner's office for follow-up action to take up construction work for the sanctioned houses.
Jala Nirmal Scheme
The Government has sanctioned a drinking water supply scheme for Hosakeri, Bennur, Chikktadasi and Hiretadasi village of Ramdurg taluk. The scheme would be taken up under the Jala Nirmal Scheme by drawing water from the Malaprabha at the cost of Rs. 60 lakh. Work on the scheme is expected to start after two to three months.
