NELLORE: It is now official. RKKR Steels Limited, which has been involved in manufacturing and trading flat and long steel products, will now invest around Rs 200 crore to set up a steel plant at Kolanakuduru of Manubolu mandal in Nellore district. Chief Minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy will lay the foundation next month for the steel plant, which will be established in two phases in 151 acres of land.
Employment
The unit is expected to provide employment to around 1,500 people in which unemployed youth as well as local qualified people might get executive, non-executive and clerical jobs. According to senior officials, the unit will manufacture special bar quality iron required for the automobile sector at the new plant. RKKR Steels Limited will take up several welfare programmes such as providing furniture and water facilities to Government schools besides organising medical camps in and around Kolanakuduru while taking up project works. Representatives of the company have recently visited the site, which was allotted by the Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (APIIC). As of now, the company has state-of-the art multiple steel manufacturing facilities and re-rolling mills at Tiruvottiyur and Gummudipundi close to Chennai port.
