NEW DELHI: The Delhi High Court on Saturday pulled up the Municipal Corporation of Delhi for failing to curb the menace of stray cattle on the city roads. Hearing a petition filed by a non-government organisation, a Division Bench of Justice T. S. Thakur and Justice S. N. Aggarwal asked the MCD to explain why no mechanism had been evolved to control the stray cattle menace. It also asked the MCD to inform by Tuesday about its mechanism and how it was going to implement it. In a strongly worded order, the Court expressed its anger with senior MCD officers for not complying with an earlier order in this regard. The Court's observation came after counsel for the petitioner brought to its notice that it had passed directions to the MCD eight years ago to remove stray cattle from the roads.
