HYDERABAD: Home Minister K. Jana Reddy said here on Saturday that 82 platoons, consisting of 2,500 uniformed armed men drawn from different forces, including CRPF, had been posted in Hyderabad to maintain law and order. He said a Muslim religious event, Tablikhi Ijtima, was on after 13 years at Mamidipalli on the outskirts of Hyderabad in which Muslims from different States are participating. Sufficient force has also been posted there to provide security to the participants. He said the Government had provided several facilities at the place, apart from constructing 4,000-5,000 temporary toilets. It would take all steps necessary to make the event a grand success.
Toll in the blast
He put the toll in bomb blast at nine and in the police firing at five. He said 64 persons were injured in the blast and all of them were admitted to hospitals. Out of them, three were discharged. Meanwhile, M. A. Basith, DGP, said it would take time to establish the linkages between the terrorists and the bomb blast at Mecca Masjid. The remains at the blast site had been collected and sent for analysis to forensic experts.
