NEW DELHI: The Bharatiya Janata Party on Saturday said the Gujarat Government had nothing to do with the controversy over art works in the Maharaja Sayajirao University in Vadodara, pointing out that it was the District Methodist Church which first lodged a protest against the "offensive'' nature of sculptures and paintings put up at an exhibition of the Fine Arts Department. "The State Government has no role to play in the management of the university or the controversy. The unfortunate reactions come from those people who lose their mental stability at the sheer mention of the word Gujarat. The nature of the sculptures and paintings was so offensive that no one could justify or agree with these,'' BJP spokesperson Prakash Javadekar told reporters here.
