Two persons robbed

BANGALORE: Armed men waylaid an executive of a private company and robbed him of his rings, cash and a mobile phone on Bannerghatta Road on Friday.

The police said that around 8.30 p.m. three men, who came in an autorickshaw, stopped George Jacob (56) near Aarakere while he was walking home from a restaurant.

They threatened Mr. Jacob, a human resources manager, with a chopper and robbed him of two gold rings, a wristwatch, cash and mobile phone. On a complaint by Mr. Jacob, the Hulimavu police have registered a case.

In another incident, three men waylaid Rajesh on Singasandra Service Road, off Hosur Road, around 10 p.m. on Friday and robbed him of Rs. 6,000 cash at knifepoint, the police said.

On a complaint by Mr. Rajesh, a resident of J.P. Nagar, the Electronics City police have registered a case.

Two killed

Rudrappa (40), a pedestrian, was killed on the spot when a car knocked him down near Electronics City on Hosur Road around 9.30 p.m. on Friday. Rudrappa was a security guard at a garment factory. The Madivala traffic police have registered a case.

Girish (22) was killed when a lorry hit his motorcycle on Kasturba Road around 6.45 p.m. on Friday. The Cubbon Park traffic police have arrested the driver.

Recovered

The Wilson Garden police have arrested Kannan (26) of Koodlu Gate on Hosur Road on charges of vehicle theft and recovered from him five motorcycles, together worth Rs. 2.3 lakh.

Arrested

The Banashankari police have arrested six persons who were allegedly planning to commit a dacoity near Kadirenahalli Circle and seized a car, swords and choppers from them. During investigation, the police found that the accused had kidnapped Syed Akheel alias Anji of Kumaraswamy Layout and demanded a ransom of Rs. 2 lakh for his release. As they did not get the ransom, the accused murdered Syed Akheel.

Worker killed

A 20-year-old worker was killed after a wooden log fell on him at a construction site near M.M. Temple in Jyothipura, K.R. Puram. The police said the log was being carriedto the second floor when it fell on Pramodraj, causing a serious head injury. He died at Victoria Hospital.

Accident deaths

Interior decorator Jayasri (40) was killed and her husband Chandrashekar (43) injured when their two-wheeler was hit by a tempo at Kasturba Junction in Ramamurhtinagar on Saturday. Advocate Chengappa (65) was killed after a mini-lorry hit him while he was walking near Udbhav hospital on Ring Road in Banashankari traffic police limits. A 40-year-old man was killed in a case of hit-and-run on Bagalur Road in Yelahanka traffic police limits.
