Residents block road

Staff Reporter

Dharmapuri: Residents of Kuttampatti near Karimangalam blocked Dharmapuri-Palacode road on Saturday demanding the district administration to open the part-time ration shop in their area.

They alleged that due to lack of a ration shop at Kuttampatti they had to traverse more than 4 km to Begarahalli to get essential commodities. Following repeated representations from the villagers the administration sanctioned a part-time ration shop at Kuttampatti by bifurcating the one at Begarahalli. But the new one was yet to be opened. As a result residents of Kuttampatti and Sowalur blocked Dharmapuri-Palacode road. Later they withdrew their agitation after assurances from police that their demand would be made known to the administration. Traffic was disrupted for more than 2 hours on road.
