WELCOMING A VIP: The house of Sheikh Farid where Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy will stay overnight on Tuesday.
Bidar: Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy will stay overnight in the house of a farmer who committed suicide, in Hankuni village in Humnabad taluk on Tuesday. Officials are cleaning and beautifying the village to receive him. The Chief Minister will have dinner and stay overnight in the house of Sheikh Farid, and have breakfast the next morning in the house of a widow, Saraswati Jagannath, in Hankuni. Modern bathrooms and toilets are being built in these modest houses. The village roads and drains are being cleaned. Disinfectant is being sprayed on the drains and open compost pits in the village. Eighteen 18 borewells were dug up in and around the village in two days, officials said. The Chief Minister will inaugurate the Government Tool Room and Training Centre and the Morarji Desai Residential School in Humnabad. He will lay the foundation stone for the Bemalkheda-Kheni Ranjol in Bemalkheda and a Kalyan Mantap in Huchukanahalli, the native village of MLA Mirajuddin Patel. Mr. Kumaraswamy will hold Janata Darshan at Humnabad Inspection Bungalow on Tuesday at 3 p.m. He will address a public rally later. On Wednesday, he will visit the houses of farmers who committed suicide in the taluk. He will also distribute cheques to the families of Prabhu Vanakeri of Talmadgi, Sivanand Biradar of Sirkatnaklli and Revansiddappa Narayanreddy of Hankuni, officials said.
Another suicide
Unable to repay loans, a farmer committed suicide in Bemalkheda village in Humnabad taluk on Sunday. With this, the number of farmers who committed suicide in the district this year has risen to 36. Sharanabasappa Basavantappa Hatti (35) allegedly drank pesticide at home in the morning. He was found dead by family members. A complained has been lodged with the Mannaekhalli police station.
