Letters to the Editor
The editorial "The wrong rite of passage" (May 19) is right in observing that the dubious initiation ritual called ragging is still practised in educational institutions across the country. The Supreme Court's order to educational institutions to put it down with an iron hand is the need of the hour.
B.V. Siva Prasad,
Ragging has been going on in various forms in colleges for long. Many seniors have assumed the right to harass freshers. Delinquent behaviour should be put down with a firm hand. The Court directive should be given adequate publicity in all colleges. It will enable the freshers to stand up for their right to be treated with dignity and respect.
Gigy Joseph,
