Negi in joint lead

NEW DELHI: Parimarjan Negi recorded his third straight victory in the World Youth Stars chess tournament by overpowering Ukraine's Grandmaster Yuriy Kuzubov at Kirishi, Russia, on Saturday.

The 47-move victory kept Parimarjan in joint lead with Armenia's Zaven Andriasian at 3.5 points after four rounds.

The results (fourth round): Parimarjan Negi (3.5) bt Yuriy Kuzubov (Ukr, 2); Rauf Mamedov (Aze, 2.5) drew with Daniil Lintchevski (Rus, 1); Eltaj Safarli (Aze, 2) bt Sergei Zhigalko (Aze, 1); Ivan Popov (Rus, 1.5) bt Eduard Gorovykh (Rus, 1.5); Avetik Grigoriyan (Arm, 2) lost to Ian Nepomniachtchi (Rus, 2.5); Falko Bindrich (Ger, 10 lost to Zaven Andriasian (Arm, 3.5).
