Woman ends life in city

BANGALORE: A woman, who was allegedly harassed by her husband for dowry, committed suicide by hanging herself at her house in Rajarajeshwarinagar police station limits on Sunday.

The police gave her name as Geetha (26), a resident of Pattanagere. Three years ago she married Raju Pawar, an employee of the Muzarai Department, the police said. On a complaint by Geetha's father, Krishna Naik, the Rajarajeshwarinagar police have registered a case and arrested Pawar.

Suicide

Following a quarrel with his wife, an elderly man committed suicide by hanging himself at his house in Whitefield police station limits on Sunday.

The police gave his name as Rayappa (60), a resident of Abdur village. The Whitefield police have registered a case.

Killed

A youth was killed on the spot after he rammed his motorcycle against a road median on Whitefield Road around 10 p.m. on Sunday.

The police gave his name as Ramesh (25) of Cauverynagar. The accident occurred while Ramesh was on his way to a petrol station, the police said. The K.R. Puram traffic police have registered a case.

Falls to death

Chandru alias Raja (45) was killed after he fell while crossing a barricade, in violation of traffic rules, on Tank Bund Road, off the Kempegowda bus station, in Majestic area on Monday.

The Upparpet police, who have registered a case, said Chandru had suffered head injuries.

Recovered

The HAL police have arrested Nazeer Ahmed alias Adil (26) of Neelasandra on vehicle theft charge and recovered from him four two-wheelers, in all valued at Rs. 1.50 lakh.

The police said the accused had stolen two vehicles each from HAL and Koramangala police station limits.

Drowns

Nine-year-old Anil Prabhu was drowned in a water tank of a building under construction in Anchepalya in Nelamangala police station limits on Monday.

According to the police, the boy slipped into the tank while playing near the construction site.

Fatal knock

Srinivas, 50, a BSNL employee was killed after he was hit by a passenger train near Krishnarajapuram on Monday.

According to the Railway Police, Srinivas was hit by the Bangarpet-Bangalore train while he was crossing the railway track to catch a city bus. Srinivas, a resident of Dooravaninagar, was working in the BSNL office in Vijayanagar, the police said.
