Letters to the Editor
The Congress-led UPA Government has completed three years in office. It has not risen to the expectations of the aam admi in whose name it came to power. There is an alarming rise in the prices of all essential commodities. The average citizen is not interested in the figures of 8 or 9 per cent growth. What affects him directly is price rise. The Government's failure to contain price rise is chiefly responsible for the Congress' rout in the elections to the Punjab, Uttarakhand, and Uttar Pradesh Assemblies.
A. Srikantaiah,
The UPA Government's concern for the aam admi has remained on paper. While it has succeeded in keeping its allies together and provided a stable and secular government, it has failed to live up to the expectations of the people on the economic front. Its failure to contain the rise in the prices of essential commodities is glaring.
