317 teachers attend counselling

  • 482 teachers in Dharwad district eligible for getting a transfer this year
  • 59 teachers secured the transfer

    DHARWAD: The counselling process for transfer of teachers of primary and high schools went on smoothly here at the office of the Deputy Director of Public Instruction (DDPI) on Tuesday.

    A total of 317 teachers with a majority from primary schools attended the counselling to select a suitable place for their transfer. The counselling began at around 10.30 a.m. and concluded at 5.30 p.m. For the benefit of teachers, seating arrangements were made inside the premises of the office of the DDPI and a pandal was erected outside the office and seating arrangements were made for those who had come along with the teachers.

    DDPI V.M. Patil told The Hindu that 482 primary school teachers in the district were eligible to get the transfer and had applied for counselling. Of them, 296 teachers attended the counselling and ultimately 59 teachers got postings to the places of their choice.

    In the high school section, 31 eligible teachers had applied for the counselling. Of them, only 21 attended the counselling and it was only four teachers who finally got the postings to a place of their choice. The rest of the teachers decided to continue at their place of work, he said.

    For the benefit of teachers, two big screens displaying the number of vacancies and their location had been erected. Mr. Patil said along with six Block Education Officers (BEOs), 12 clerical staff and 15 non-teaching staff were involved the counselling process, which concluded at 5.30 p.m. He said the information on the vacancies in the district would be sent to the central office, which would be made available to teachers seeking inter-district transfer.
