Staff Correspondent

Three layouts developed on 15 acres of land at Nekar Nagar

YET ANOTHER DRIVE: Workers removing the marking stones from an illegal layout at Timmasagar at Nekar Nagar in Hubli on Tuesday.

HUBLI: Hubli-Dharwad Urban Development Authority (HDUDA) chairman Lingaraj Patil began the drive against illegal layouts in the twin cities on Tuesday.

Accompanied by senior officials of HDUDA and a posse of police personnel, Mr. Patil visited three illegal layouts on the outskirts of the city that had come up recently. On visiting the layouts, it was found that the developers had formed a residential layout without taking any permission from the competent authorities and the land used for the layouts was meant for agriculture.

HDUDA team found three layouts developed on 15 acres of land at Nekar Nagar of Old Hubli and near Timmasagar. In the uncultivated land, the developers had dug pits and installed stones to mark the boundaries of the plots of various dimensions.

Lingaraj Patil told presspersons that the plots were sold at a price of Rs. 25,000 to Rs. 30,000 and initial deposit amount of Rs. 10,000 was being collected, after signing an agreement on stamp papers.

He said Tuesday's drive had shown just the tip of an iceberg and in the days to come the drive would continue. He appealed to the people not to invest their money in such illegal layouts.

Mr. Patil said he had directed the officials to issue notices to the owners of land and efforts were on to trace the private land developers with the help of the police.

He appealed to the citizens to inform the HDUDA about such illegal layouts coming up in their locality to enable it to take action.
