HYDERABAD: Top-seeded Padmini Rout of Orissa recorded her second straight win against C.H. Savetha of Tamil Nadu on the top board in the second round of the National `B' women's chess championship at the Kotla Vijaya Bhaskara Reddy Indoor Stadium here on Tuesday. Padmini had little difficulty in disposing off the challenge of the Tamil Nadu girl with black pieces. On the second board, WIM Kiran Monisha Mohanty got the better of Chandana Priya Reddy in the Sicilian Pelikan Variation immediately after the 19th move.
Easy for Saimeera
Defending champion Saimeera Ravi (BSB) scored another facile win over P.K. Jayashree with black in the Sicilian Defence Najdorff. Though white tried to come back into the game by castling on the queenside on the 13th move, the champion was equal to the task by slowly moving her pieces to the queenside. Then it was a mere formality for her to clinch the issue. Shristi J. Shetty surprised World under-10 champion Ch. Sahajasri in another second round game.
