First professional league to start on Sept. 30

New Delhi: The Professional Football League will be launched in India this September. The All India Football Federation (AIFF) at its Executive Committee meeting here has approved a 10-team format for the league that will open on September 30.

The pro league will run for five months in its first year before two bottom-placed teams are relegated for the next season, the AIFF Honorary Secretary, Alberto Colaco, said in a release here.
