Prohibitory orders clamped

NIZAMABAD: Deputy Superintendent of Police K. Anjaneyulu said prohibitory orders under Section 30 of the Indian Police Act were clamped in the police sub-division. Organisers of public meetings, rallies, dharnas and processions should apply well in advance for permission and use of mikes, he said in a press release issued here. -Staff Reporter

Senior journalist passes away

NIZAMABAD: A senior Urdu journalist and Staff Reporter of the Siasat Urdu daily Syed Moizuddin Shaheen died of brain haemorrhage at a private hospital this evening. He was 55 and is survived by wife, three sons and one daughter. Shaheen had been in Urdu journalism for the last 30 years and worked for the Siasat for over 25 years. Andhra Pradesh Union of Working Journalists district unit expressed condolences to Mr. Shaheen's family. - Staff Reporter

3 of family end lives

KARIMNAGAR: A three-month-old infant was administered poison by a couple before they committed suicide due to financial crisis in Tilaknagar of Godavarikhani on Tuesday. A. Rajendra Prasad (35) and wife Swaroopa (30) committed suicide by hanging to the ceiling, leaving their two-year-old daughter Amyuktha, who is staying with her grandmother. - Staff Reporter

ANANTAPUR: Farmers led by the CPI occupied 16.5 acres of Government land in the alleged possession of two influential persons at Kuderu in the district on Tuesday.
