Salary hike for village secretaries

HYDERABAD: The Andhra Pradesh Government has enhanced the monthly consolidated pay for panchayat (village) secretaries from Rs.2,000 to Rs.4,900.

The hike, which will be implemented from next month benefiting 3,064 village secretaries, will place an additional burden of Rs 10.8 crore annually on the exchequer.

Panchayat Raj Minister J.C. Diwakar Reddy said the Government had decided to pay salaries to panchayat raj employees through treasuries hereafter.
