Special Correspondent

HYDERABAD: Municipal employees in the State called off their nine-day-old strike on Tuesday after their leaders reached an understanding with the Government.

A rapprochement became possible between the Government and the employees following prolonged talks held by Municipal Administration Minister K. Ranga Rao with their unions at the Secretariat till late night. CPI floor leader Ch. Venkat Reddy was also present.

Ms. Pushpa Subrahmanyam, Secretary of the Department, who took part in the talks later told The Hindu that a committee would be formed soon with the union representatives and officials to study provisionalization of services implemented in municipalities of other States.
