2 RTC buses burnt
GUNTUR: Samithi activists burnt two RTC buses at Kolluru and Narasaraopet. Kolluru Sub- Inspector T. Brahammayya said 10 unidentified persons torched one bus bound for Kolluru at Juvvalapalem. The miscreants allegedly attacked driver P.V. Raghavaiah, doused kerosene and set the bus ablaze. Some others set afire another bus bound for Srisailam, near the RTO office, at Narasaraopet.
Recovery of cost
Hyderabad Special Correspondent writes: Meanwhile, the State Government has prepared a draft Bill to introduce legislation for recovery of costs from organisations and political parties under the Revenue Recovery Act if their followers destroy RTC buses. Transport Minister K. Lakshminarayana told reporters here on Tuesday that the draft had been sent to the Centre for its concurrence. Once clearance was obtained, legislation would be enacted. The Minister appealed to MRPS agitators not to destroy buses, saying "they are your own property." He put the loss suffered by the RTC on account of the buses burnt by MRPS agitators at Rs.1.6 crore so far.
