NEW DELHI: The Central Board of Secondary Education's fortnight-long second phase of counselling for students will become operational from Wednesday. Aimed at providing psychological help to students to cope with post-result situations through tele-helpline, Interactive Voice Response System (IVRS) and the CBSE website, as many as 29 principals, trained counsellors from CBSE affiliated government and private schools, psychologists and social scientists will operate the helpline individually from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. The helpline has been set up in 12 cities -- Delhi, Chandigarh, Meerut, Noida, Jaipur, Gurgaon, Faridabad, Bhubaneshwar, Vishakhapatnam, Coimbatore, Mumbai and Jabalpur. For better accessibility and convenience, the centres have been arranged State-wise and students have been advised to call the numbers closest to their location. The service will also be provided to students in Yemen, Doha and Qatar. Tele-counselling will be provided by individual volunteers free of cost. CBSE has made an effort to provide tele-counselling through IVRS mode for the third consecutive year in order to enable more examinees to use the facility. The service will be available on local dial facilities within Delhi and Mumbai for MTNL subscribers. It will run behind a 10 digit number -- 1250 111 102 on MTNL network. For BSNL and Airtel landline users, it will run behind a seven digit number -- 1250 102. Information and techniques to cope with post-result anxiety will be provided at www.cbse.nic.in under the icon "Helpline". The service will be available till June 6.
