Maninder arrested

Staff Reporter

Maninder Singh

NEW DELHI: The former Indian cricketer, Maninder Singh, was arrested along with a Nigerian from his residence here on Tuesday for allegedly being in possession of drugs. The police recovered 1.5 gm of white powdery substance, suspected to be cocaine, from them.

It is learnt that Mr. Singh was arrested when the Nigerian, identified as Sam, was allegedly delivering the stuff. The police were trailing the alleged drug peddler following a tip-off that he had been supplying cocaine in the capital. Hunt is on for another person. A case under the Narcotic Drug and Psychotropic Substances Act has been registered.

PTI reports:

Mr. Singh is the second public face to be embroiled in a drug abuse case in Delhi in the past one year. The late BJP leader Pramod Mahajan's son Rahul was arrested in a drug abuse case in June last year.
