NEW DELHI: The Advisory Committee of the Indira Gandhi Award for National Integration on Wednesday invited proposals for the 2006 Award, which would be given on October 31, the martyrdom day of Mrs. Gandhi. The award carries a citation and a purse of Rs. 1.51 lakh to be given to a person or an institution for the outstanding contribution made to promote National Integration.
Contribution
The 2006 Award would for the recognition of outstanding contribution to the cause of National Integration in that year and two years immediately preceding it, the Committee Secretary Motilal Vora said in a press release. The previous awardees include eminent personalities such as Swami Ranganathananda, Aruna Asaf Ali, M.S. Subbulakshmi, Rajiv Gandhi, Acharya Shree Tulsi, Bishambar Nath Pande and A.P.J. Abdul Kalam among others.
Proforma
The committee invites proposals on prescribed proforma available at the Office of the Advisory Committee in Jawhar Bhawan, Dr. Rajendra Prasad Road, New Delhi by July 31, the release said.
