NIZAMABAD: Police used mild force to disburse the agitating Bharatiya Janata Party activists near RTC bus station at Armoor. The demonstrators were demanding the announcement of Rs.5 lakh ex gratia, Government employment, house and other benefits to the bereaved family of a 24 -year young man, K. Gangadhar who died of stab injuries late Tuesday night. They resorted to lathicharge as BJP activists had gathered in large numbers tried to stop bus services. The police took a few workers into custody but released them in the afternoon. Earlier, the agitators went around the town forcing shopkeepers to down shutters. The bandh was near total and peaceful. No untoward incident was reported from any part of the town, said Y.A. Srinivas Rao, additional SP.
