RAPT ATTENTION: Students and their parents attending the pre-counselling guidance session organised by The Hindu EducationPlus in Hubli on Wednesday.
HUBLI: Those who attended the "CET Pre Counselling Guidance Session" organised by The Hindu EducationPlus at Sawai Gandharva Hall here on Wednesday returned home with a clearer picture of engineering, medical and dental courses and admission procedures. More than 200 students and their parents from Dharwad district attended the session. There were also a few students from Belgaum, Gadag, Haveri, Bagalkot, Uttar Kannada, Bellary and Davangere. They had many queries right from the admission procedure to the scope of various branches of engineering. The panel comprising Ashok Shettar, Principal of BVB College of Engineering and Technology; M.G. Hiremath, Director of Karnataka Institute of Medical Sciences and Hospital and K.V.V. Prasad, Head, Department of Community Dentistry, SDM College of Dental Sciences cleared the students' doubts. M.A.P. Rao, an officer of the State Bank of Mysore, wanted to know how many seats would be available for general category students, while his daughter Swarnalatha wanted to know about the prospects of biotechnology. Dr. Hiremath said there was requirement for graduates in medical electronics for maintaining medical equipment in hospitals in the State. Prateek wanted to know whether students of electronics and communication branches were given importance during campus interviews. There were also queries on the scope of post graduation in aeronautics, pursuing of MBA course after engineering and opportunities in space research.
