NEW DELHI: The Super Cup match between the National Football League (NFL) champion Dempo Sports Club and the Federation Cup winner, Mohun Bagan, will be held at the Devi Lal Stadium in Gurgaon under floodlights. Notwithstanding the reservations expressed by Dempo, which has objected to the playing conditions in Gurgaon and the harsh summer in North, the All India Football Federation (AIFF), on Wednesday, maintained that Gurgaon would remain the venue for the annual match. "There is no question of shifting the venue as we plan to have the match under lights with Zee Sports doing the live telecast," said the AIFF General Secretary, Alberto Colaco. Dempo coach Armando Colaco, after his club won the NFL title, had gone on record to say that traditionally the NFL champion hosted the Federation Cup winner for the Super Cup. He had also pointed out that weather and ground conditions in Guragon were not satisfactory at this time of the year. "Two years ago when Dempo became NFL champion they played the Super Cup match in Kozhikode and had no problems. There is no tradition that the NFL champion will host the Super Cup," said Mr. Colaco.
