LIC staff meet from Saturday

KANNUR: The Life Insurance Corporation (LIC) has recorded huge growth in the last fiscal despite privatisation and reforms being implemented by the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) Government in the insurance sector, the Life Insurance Company Employees' Union (LICEU) has said.

Union leader M.K. Balakishnan, who is the general convener of the organising committee for the two-day divisional conference of the union beginning here on Saturday, and organising committee chairman K.P. Sahadevan said the meet would discuss the course of action to be taken against the moves to privatise public sector insurance companies. It would also take up the issue of shortage of staff. P. Karunakaran, MP, will inaugurate the conference.
