Open house for freshers

Delhi University's Indraprastha College for Women on Wednesday organised an open house session for those seeking admission in the new academic year.

A number of aspirants and their parents attended the session where Dean of Students' Welfare S. K. Vij explained the admission procedure to students. He informed them that they would be required to fill separate application forms, other than the common pre-admission form provided by the University, for entrance exams to various courses run by different colleges.

"For those who want to make use of hostel accommodation and quota for sports and extra curricular activities, students will have to go to the particular college that has these facilities and apply there," he said.

Prof. Vij refuted media reports that there has been a reduction in the number of seats offered by the University.

He asked the students and their parents to approach the Office of Students' Welfare in case of any queries or doubts and advised them to steer clear of any "touts and agents" who promise admission to colleges in lieu of money.

"You must be wary of such people. Every year such cases are reported. We have to maintain the sanctity of the admission procedure of the University. I must tell you that admission to all the colleges is made through merit only," Prof. Vij told the students.

Later, the audience was shown a short visual presentation on the University. A film highlighting the history, facilities and achievements of the 83-year-old college was also screened.

The faculty members informed the students about different avenues and prospects of the subjects offered by the college.
