BANGALORE: Chikkarangappa, who had a bad experience on the sixth hole, held on to the lead at the end of the second round of the Indian Golf Union junior and sub-junior tournament here on Wednesday Chikka, coasting along at three under for the day and seven under for the tournament, saw his shot on the sixth hole lodge firmly in the banyan tree. Forced to take a penalty drop,heended up with a double bogey for the hole. Another dropped shot on the eighth saw Chikka end with a par 72 for the round. He still has a two-stroke lead over Amanjyot Singh of Jaipur and tops the table in both A & B categories. Amanjyot returned the best card of the day, a two-under-70. Teeing off from the tenth, he began with back-to-back bogeys on the 10th and 11th holes. However, birdies on the 4th, 8th, 15th and 17th and pars on the rest of the holes, saw him whittle off two strokes from Chikka's overnight lead. Rahul Ravi, who played a 79 for the round, maintains his lead in the C category, seven strokes ahead of Akash Srinivasan. Piyush Sangwan and Veeraj Madappa lead the D category for youngsters. The scores: A & B (mixed) category (second round): 1. Chikkarangappa (68, 72) 140; 2. Amanjyot Singh (72,70) 142; 3. Rommel Majumdar (74, 75) and Pritham Haridas (72,77) 149. C category (second round): 1. Rahul Ravi (76, 79) 155, 2. Akash Srinivasan (84, 78) 162; 3. Kelly Rao (86, 83) 169. D Category (first round): 1. Piyush Sangwan & Veeraj Madappa 81, 3. Jairaj Singh 82.
