Bidar: Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy made an overnight stay at Hankuni in Humnabad taluk of Bidar district on Tuesday as part of his village stay programme. He stayed in the house of Arifa Bi.

The Chief Minister was accompanied by Agriculture Minister Bandeppa Kashempur and Merajuddin Patel, MLA. The Chief Minister slept for around five hours and was up at 6 a.m. He got ready in an hour and had breakfast. After that, Mr. Kumaraswamy spoke to presspersons.

He distributed a cheque for Rs. 1 lakh to Arifa Bi, who lost her husband recently. Her husband Sheikh Farid Usmansaab, who had taken loan for farm activity committed suicide by setting himself ablaze. She requested him to help her send her sons to school. Mr. Kumaraswamy later received petitions from the public. He assured them that their problems would be solved. The Chief Minister said it had come to his notice that government officials were seeking bribe from beneficiaries of welfare programmes. "I will put an end to corruption," he told the gathering.

He later left for Talmadagi and Sirakatnalli villages to distribute cheques to families of farmers who committed suicide.

Arifa Bi is wondering how to cash the cheque as she does not have a bank account.
