SANGAREDDY: Sixteen persons have been killed in road accidents in Medak, Adilabad and Kadapa districts since Tuesday night. Eight of them, including two women and two children, lost their lives on the National Highway-9 near Kaveli under Kohir police station limits in Medak district when a mini bus in which they were travelling collided with a truck on Wednesday. Two families from Latur and Udgir were travelling by the bus to Tirupati. Police took the truck driver, who reportedly lost control, into custody. Bus driver Ibrahim (30) and seven others were killed instantaneously. One of the 10 injured breathed his last while being shifted to a hospital. Six persons were killed and 47 sustained injuries in two separate accidents in Adilabad district. An RTC bus collided with a mini lorry, killing four of a family, at Kortikal in Neredigonda mandal. The victims were proceeding from Adilabad to Nirmal to attend a family function. A bus of Adilabad depot rammed the lorry, resulting in the death of the four and injuries to 42 others. Incidentally, the spot was 3 km from the site of the accident involving two lorries that left 25 persons dead on May 14. In another accident near the office of the General Manager of Singareni Collieries Company Limited at Srirampur, two passengers of an autorickshaw were killed when the vehicle overturned. Two more persons were killed when a tractor near Mangampet of Kadpa district overturned on Tuesday night. Sivasankar and Mallikarjuna were killed.
