Nizamabad
Staff Reporter
NIZAMABAD: APSRTC Executive Director P. Narayana Swamy has disclosed that the transport corporation initiated several steps to reach out to passengers, particularly the rural people. Addressing a press conference after releasing the Nizamabad regional timetable here on Wednesday, he said printing of time-tables containing details of bus services, their timings, fares and other information was part of the corporation's efforts to become more passenger-friendly. Release of timetable was delayed this year, but next year onwards it would be brought out on January 1 every year, he said and added that it was published in three forms -- local, regional and central. The central timetable containing information regarding Volvo and inter-State services was already released. The RTC has constantly been making efforts to improve facilities for passengers and seating and lighting systems were improvised in rural bus services by replacing red buses with Palle Velugu. In every village boards were put up at bus bays giving information regarding arrival and departure timings of buses, he said. Such boards were erected in 180 villages in the district. That apart, route maps and stage polls were put up. Efforts were also on to wean away the rural passengers from traveling in the private vehicles, jeeps and taxis.
