NEW DELHI: The Delhi High Court on Wednesday handed over the management and running of the Nizamuddin dargah here to the Delhi Wakf Board.
The direction by a Division Bench comprising Justice T.S. Thakur and Justice S.N. Aggarwal came on a public interest litigation by non-government organisation Hum Aapke accusing the "pirzaadas" and their agents of the dargah of misappropriating the offerings and
Management committee
The Bench also allowed the Wakf Board to reconstitute the current management committee to oversee the day-to-day operation of the dargah.
The Delhi High Court had last year appointed a receiver and asked him to take over the functioning of the Nizamuddin dargah saying that the present management had made a mockery of administration.
Offerings
The High Court had in 2005 directed the Waqf Board to take charge of the dargah and ensure that no third party collected any of the offerings there.
The petitioner had alleged that the "pirzaadas" and the agents of the dargah misappropriated the offerings
