Mayor meets Railway Minister

NEW DELHI: Delhi Mayor Arti Mehra on Wednesday called on Union Railway Minister Lalu Prasad and apprised him of the delays in various projects related to the Municipal Corporation of Delhi that are being implemented by the Railways.

Assuring the Mayor of all necessary help, Mr. Prasad said the expenditure on projects relating to the MCD being implemented by the Railways would be shared equally between the two.

Handicraft artisans honoured

NEW DELHI: Industries Minister Mangat Ram Singhal gave away the State awards for handicraft artisans of Delhi for the year 2003-04 and 2004-05 at Delhi Secretariat here on Wednesday.

Presenting the awards, Mr Singhal said the Delhi Government has been making tireless efforts to promote the handicraft industry by organising exhibitions at various places to promote the sale of different products manufactured by these artisans.

Volunteers back from Sriperumbudur

NEW DELHI: A "jatha" of volunteers of Nehru Brigade returned here on Tuesday from Sriperumbudur in Tamil Nadu with a "kalash" from the martyrdom site of former Prime Minister late Rajiv Gandhi.

The "kalash" was handed over to the volunteers by the Tamil Nadu Congress Committee chief. The "kalash" will be immersed into the Ganges and the Yamuna.
